RESPONSIBLE TO:
Baty General Manager
JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting directly to the Baty General Manager, the Technical Support Engineer will play a key role in supporting the businesses customers and worldwide distributors with technical advice, guidance and training.
OVERVIEW OF ROLE:
•Build and maintain good working relationships with Baty software and hardware systems suppliers and gain a full understanding of the systems supplied;
•Develop technical standards, processes and working practices of the external technical support function, internal software testing and system verification;
•Make recommendations to improve software based products with an emphasis on increased functionality, market competitiveness and the use of latest technology;
•Provide C# / Dot Net based diagnostic tools specifically designed around touchscreen technology for new products as well as apps to aid in backing up and setting up machines for production;
•Provide technical assistance in training, mentoring & coaching Customers / Export distributors on all software based products;
•Answer all software / control system based technical queries from UK Customers / Clients and a Worldwide network of distributors;
•Develop & maintain support materials to assist customer / distributor product understanding;
•Liaise with all departments to identify, define and document operational needs and objectives, current procedures, problems, input and output requirements, and levels of systems access;
•Maintain up to date, detailed knowledge and understanding of product portfolio, ensuring continuous awareness of product changes / improvements & developments;
•Develop an in-house metrology package for use on new and existing products. Using the MVVM design pattern in an OOP principles applied;
•Foster client relationships on an ongoing basis;
•Liaise with other departments and external contacts as required;
•Support effective cross-departmental working for business efficiency;

We are looking for candidates ideally educated to degree level or equivalent with good experience in providing technical support within a similar industry.
Along with the required technical skill-set, you will need first-class communication / interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to quickly instil trust and confidence in others. Good time management with planning and organisational skills, and an eye for accuracy and attention to detail. Comfortable working as part of a team and on own initiative, with an excellent work ethic, commitment and dedication to deliver job responsibilities.
