EUROPEAN COMMUNITY WHOLE VEHICLE TYPE APPROVAL
FOR MINI BUSES, 9 – 17 SEATS INCLUDING DRIVER
(ECWVTA)
Euromotive Kent Ltd. Are the market leaders in converting vans to mini buses with Type Approval and have been working very closely over the past 2 years with V.C.A., V.O.S.A. and S.M.M.T. to assist them with their interpretation of European Type Approval and are on schedule to achieve type approval on all manufacturers’ models by 29th October 2011.
ECWVTA will be mandatory as from 29th October 2011 on mini buses carrying 8 – 16 passengers. This will change the way converters operate and will improve the safety of the mini buses.
As most operators of Accessible mini buses have their own interpretation of a specification, they may need to adjust the specification to meet the requirements of Type Approval. This should be achieved by working with the converter who is responsible for achieving the correct Type Approval for the customer, therefore safeguarding the dealer so that they can register the vehicle in the correct manner.
It is the responsibility of the converter to produce either an Individual approval certificate (IAC), small series or whole vehicle type approval certificate or the dealer will be unable to register the vehicle causing many problems for the dealer and customer.
It is the responsibility of the dealer (being the person responsible for registering the vehicle) to ensure that the converter will be able to produce the appropriate Certificate of Conformity to enable the dealer to register the vehicle.
