A simple method of maintaining your company's profits is to increase the throughput of a process but there are other ways. Our approach has been to theorise that rather than trying to push more work through the process, profits can be improved by monitoring work patterns and processes within the plant and reducing the 'losses' within the process. This may then lead to extra production capacity and to improved staff moral which can further improve the quality of the process.
The 'losses' are many and varied. They cover anything from time wasted by operators to downtime due to lack of items to process or items 'lost' within the machine due to mis-processing or jamming.
