These programmable devices allow highly complex functions to be manufactured with just a handful of components. Programming of these devices, known in the trade as embedded programming, was a slow and cumbersome process using assembler language; however we now program in the “C” language which speeds up the development process considerably and can therefore reduce development cost and time to market.
