Siemens S7-400 Upgrade and Migration

S7-400 systems tend to run critical plant, which makes upgrading them a serious project. Siemens is steering new work towards the S7-1500 family, so most S7-400 owners will need a migration plan sooner or later.

Bubble Automation helps you plan that move properly. We start by reviewing the existing hardware, network and program, then agree a migration strategy that suits your plant. That might be a single switchover during a planned shutdown, or a phased approach that moves one area at a time.

The code is converted into TIA Portal and restructured where it helps. Old STL blocks can be rewritten in SCL or Ladder for easier maintenance. HMI and SCADA can be upgraded at the same time, for example to WinCC or WinCC Unified, so operators get a modern interface alongside the new controller.

Testing happens before we reach site, including simulation where possible. That keeps the on site window short and controlled. After commissioning, you get full documentation, backups

and an engineering team that knows your system.

Bubble Automation is based in Droxford, Hampshire and works across the UK. Get in touch to talk through your system with an engineer who knows Siemens inside out.
